Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 23 July 2026
1. The short version
Lineup is an app that helps people in the UAE find and play sport together. It is run by Techauthors FZ LLC. These Terms are the agreement between you and us.
Here is the whole thing in a paragraph. You create an account, we give you a level in each sport based on your results, and you use that to find games other people are hosting or to host your own. You can also buy and sell court slots that other users have already booked, and join communities run by other users. You can pay in the app by card. We take a platform fee of 3%, which comes out of the host's side, not yours. Hosts and sellers are paid by our team by bank transfer, by hand, so it is not instant. Most importantly: Lineup does not run, supervise, staff, inspect or insure any game or venue. Sport carries a real risk of injury. You play at your own risk. Please read section 21 in full before you play.
By creating an account or using Lineup, you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use Lineup.
2. Who we are
Lineup is operated by Techauthors FZ LLC, In5 Tech, Dubai Internet City, P.O. Box 73000, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
You can reach us at admin@lineup.ae or on +971 58 512 9190. These are the contact details for any question, complaint or claim about the app, and for reporting anything you see on it.
In these Terms, "Lineup", "we" and "us" mean Techauthors FZ LLC. "You" means the person using Lineup. These Terms cover the Lineup apps for iOS and Android and the website at https://lineup.ae.
3. What Lineup is, and what it is not
Lineup is a platform that connects people who want to play sport. Through Lineup you can create and join games, list or take over a court slot that someone has already booked, join communities run by other users, chat with the people you are playing with, and pay in the app.
Lineup is not a sports venue, a court operator, a booking agent, a coach, a club, a tour operator or an event organiser. We do not own, run, staff, inspect or insure any pitch, court or facility. We do not attend games and we do not supervise them. Games are created and run by the users who publish them.
We are not the venue when you buy a court slot from another user, and we are not the organiser when you buy a package from a community. Those arrangements are between you and that other user: the seller of a court slot, covered in section 11, or the organiser who runs the community, covered in section 12. What we do is provide the platform, take the payment, and hold the money until it is due to be passed on.
That said, we do not hide behind that description. UAE consumer law makes a platform responsible for what third parties sell through it, and terms that try to disclaim that responsibility do not work. So if something you paid for through Lineup does not happen, come to us. Sections 9, 11, 12 and 16 explain what we will do.
4. Who can use Lineup
To use Lineup you must be 18 or over, be legally able to enter into a contract, give accurate information about yourself, and not be someone we have previously removed from the platform.
We ask you to confirm your age when you sign up. We do not have a way to verify it independently, so we rely on what you tell us.
If we learn that an account belongs to someone below 18, we will close it and delete the personal data held on it, other than the minimum record we need to stop the account being recreated and any payment record we are legally required to keep. Any unspent credit is dealt with under section 14, and any games booked on that account are cancelled and refunded under section 9. If you believe a child has an account on Lineup, email admin@lineup.ae and we will treat it as a priority.
Lineup is built for the United Arab Emirates and the games, communities and court slots on it are in the UAE. You may open the app from elsewhere, but it is your responsibility to make sure that is lawful where you are.
You may hold one account only. Do not create an account for someone else and do not use someone else's account.
5. Your account and how you sign in
You sign in with Google, with Sign in with Apple, or with a one-time passcode sent to your phone by SMS. There is no email and password login on Lineup, so we never hold a password for you.
Even though you cannot log in with an email address, we usually receive one. Google and Apple pass us your email address as part of signing in, and we store it on your account. If you use Sign in with Apple you can choose to hide your real address, and we will only ever see the private relay address Apple gives us.
Because sign-in depends on your Google account, your Apple account or your phone number, you are responsible for keeping those secure. Anyone who controls them can get into your Lineup account. If you lose control of the phone number you signed up with, email admin@lineup.ae straight away.
Anything done through your account is treated as done by you, unless you tell us the account has been used without your permission.
6. Your profile
Your profile has to reflect the real you. Your display name and photo must be of you and must not impersonate anyone. Your name, region and city must be accurate.
Your gender must be accurate too, and that one is not cosmetic. Lineup runs women's-only and men's-only games, and the answer you give is what decides whether our server will let you take a seat in one. A false answer takes a place away from the players the game was created for.
We should be straight with you about how that works today. Our server only lets a player marked as a woman into a women's-only game, and only a player marked as a man into a men's-only game. If you select any other option, the server will not let you into either kind of game. Every other game on Lineup is open to you. We know that rule is blunt, we are reviewing it, and we will update this section if it changes.
We may remove a photo, reset a display name or suspend an account where the information is false, misleading, offensive or impersonates someone.
7. Your level in each sport
Lineup gives you a level from 0 to 7, shown to one decimal place, separately for each of the eight sports on the app: football, padel, tennis, cricket, badminton, basketball, volleyball and pickleball. Next to it we show a reliability figure, which is how confident we are in that level.
Your level is calculated automatically by software from the results of the games you play, using a rating method similar to Elo. You cannot set it yourself and neither can a host. Nothing you pay for changes it. You cannot buy a level, raise one, or protect one.
A level is our estimate, produced so that people of a similar standard end up in the same game. It can be wrong. It is least reliable when you are new, when you have played only a few games, when results were not recorded, or when your real form has changed faster than the maths.
So we give no guarantee that your level, or anyone else's, describes how a person actually plays, and no guarantee about the standard or the enjoyment of any game you join. A level is also not a safety assessment. It says nothing about whether someone is safe, honest, or good to be around.
Because your level shapes which games you are shown and whether a host accepts you, it is an automated assessment that affects you. If you think a result was recorded wrongly, email admin@lineup.ae and a person will look at it. You can ask us to correct a factually wrong result, and you can ask for a person rather than software to review a decision about your level. You cannot ask us to set your level to a number you would prefer.
We may change how levels are calculated and may recalculate them. We may reset or correct a level where we believe results have been manipulated.
8. Joining a game
Every game shows a level range, and some games are restricted to women only or men only. The two work differently, and it matters that you know which is which.
The gender restriction is enforced on our server. If you are not eligible, the server will not give you a seat, and it is not something a host can wave through.
The level range is guidance. If your level sits outside a game's range you can still ask to join, and the host decides whether to let you in. The app will tell you that you are outside the range when you ask.
Seats are limited and go on a first-come basis. If a game is full you may be able to join a waitlist.
Taking a seat is a commitment to the host and to the other players. On a paid game your seat is held while the payment is in progress and confirmed once the payment succeeds. If the payment does not complete, the held seat is released.
Turn up on time, ready to play, follow the venue's rules and the host's reasonable instructions. You are responsible for your own equipment, and for checking before you play that the venue, the format and the level are right for you.
9. Cancelling, and the 24 hour refund rule
You can cancel your own seat in the app at any time. Whether you get money back depends on when you cancel.
More than 24 hours before the game starts: anything you paid through Lineup is refunded in full.
Within 24 hours of the start, or if you simply do not turn up: no refund. By that point the host has usually already committed to and paid for the court.
The 24 hour cut-off is worked out by our server against the game's published start time. It is not a judgement call made by a person. A cancellation exactly 24 hours before the start counts as inside the cut-off, so it is not refunded.
Where a refund is due it goes back to the card you paid with. If you paid with community credit, the credit goes back to that community's balance, which is explained in section 14. If a card refund cannot be processed for some reason, your seat stays exactly as it was until the refund is sorted out. We will not take your seat away and keep your money at the same time.
Card refunds are sent by us immediately and usually reach your account within 10 business days. How long your bank takes is not something we control.
If a host cancels a paid game, everyone who paid is refunded in full. Refunds are normally issued automatically when the host cancels. If yours has not appeared within three business days of the cancellation, email admin@lineup.ae and we will issue it by hand.
If you do not turn up, the host and the other players can report it. Repeated reports of no-shows may lead us to limit your ability to join games, or to suspend or close your account. Not turning up never earns you a refund.
Community credit packages and court slots do not currently carry separate cancellation terms set by the organiser or the seller. Credit you bought as part of a package is not refundable once it has been issued, except where the community does not honour it, which is covered in section 12. A court slot is refundable under section 11 where the seller cannot deliver it.
None of this affects your right to a remedy if a service you paid for was not delivered at all, or was not what was described. That is covered in sections 11, 12 and 16 and by UAE consumer law.
10. Hosting a game
If you create a game you are its host. You choose the sport, format, time, venue, level range, number of places and price, and you are responsible for everything you publish being true.
As a host, you must do all of the following.
Have the right to use the venue at the time you advertised, and make sure the booking actually exists.
Describe the game honestly, including the level range and any restriction such as women's-only or men's-only.
Charge only the price you published.
Run the game as advertised, or cancel it in the app as early as you can so players get refunded in time.
Treat players fairly, including on the waitlist and when you remove someone.
You are the person your players are dealing with. If you cancel late, do not turn up, or the court you promised is not there, that is your responsibility to them. We may remove a game, take away a host's ability to create games, or suspend an account where a host repeatedly fails to deliver what was advertised, and we may recover from you what we have to refund to your players.
11. Court slots: buying and selling
If you have booked a court and can no longer use it, you can list that slot for another user to take over. You can also buy a slot someone else has listed.
Read this part carefully. Lineup does not book the court. We are not the venue, we are not acting for the venue, and we do not hold or resell venue inventory. When you list a slot you are offering to pass on a booking that you made with the venue in your own name.
If you list a slot, you are promising that the booking is real, that it is yours, that the venue, date, time, court and price you published are correct, and that the venue's own rules allow you to transfer or share it. Do not list a slot you have not booked, have already used, or have already cancelled. If you do, we will refund the buyer and recover the money from you.
If you buy a slot, you are taking on that booking as it stands, and you should confirm with the venue that you can use it. We do not inspect, price, verify or insure any listed slot, and we cannot promise the court will be in any particular condition. We do not hold your payment in escrow, so do not treat the purchase as protected until the slot has been played.
If a slot you paid for turns out not to exist, or the seller cannot deliver it, do not just absorb it. Email admin@lineup.ae. We will look into it and refund you where the seller was at fault, and we will recover the amount from the seller. We can control what we do. We cannot control how another user behaves.
We may unlist or remove any listing, for example where we think it is fraudulent, duplicated, or does not describe a real booking.
12. Communities and credit packages
A community is created and run by a user, the organiser, not by Lineup. An organiser can list a community, create games under it, set prices, sell credit packages, run a group chat, and see a dashboard of what their games have taken.
A package is a payment that gives you a credit balance with that one community, usually worth more than you paid. For example, you might pay AED 200 and receive 240 credits. Those credits can only be spent on that community's games. A package is not a fixed number of games, and it does not renew by itself. Nothing on Lineup charges you again automatically.
If you run a community, you are responsible for what you sell. Say clearly what a package costs, how much credit it gives, and what it can be spent on. Honour what you sold. Do not change or withdraw a package after people have paid for it. The members buying from you are your customers.
If you buy a package, your agreement about what you get is with the organiser. Lineup is not the organiser and does not promise that a community's games will run or that a community will keep existing. If a package is not honoured, tell us at admin@lineup.ae. We will look into it, and we may refund you and recover the amount from the organiser.
An organiser can set a community to closed and can approve, decline or remove members, and can ban a member from that community. That is the organiser's call. Being removed from a community does not give you a claim against Lineup, but if you are removed while still holding credit with that community, email us and we will sort out a refund.
Packages buy you a place at real games at real venues and nothing else. They do not unlock any feature, badge, visibility or content inside the app. This is deliberate and it must stay true, because it is what keeps these purchases outside Apple's and Google's in-app purchase rules.
13. Prices, payment and our fee
Depending on what you tap, you are buying a seat in a game from the host, a court slot from the user who listed it, or a credit package from an organiser. In every case Techauthors FZ LLC provides the platform, takes the payment, and holds the money until it is due to be passed on. The host, seller or organiser is the one who actually has to run the game or honour the slot or package.
Card payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Your card details go straight to Stripe and are handled under Stripe's own terms and security standards. When you pay, you are authorising the exact amount shown to you at checkout. Prices are in UAE Dirhams unless it says otherwise, and the price you see is the total you pay, including any tax that applies.
Prices are set by the host, organiser or seller, not by us. They can change them whenever they like, and a price change never affects something you have already paid for.
We charge a platform fee of 3%. It is a fee for the service of running the platform, not a charge for processing your card. It is included in the price you see rather than added at checkout, so you pay exactly the amount shown to you before you confirm. The fee comes out of what the host, organiser or seller receives. On a game priced at AED 100, the player pays AED 100 and the host receives AED 97.
Every payment you make is listed in the app, with the date, the amount and what it was for. If you need a written invoice, email admin@lineup.ae and we will send you one.
If a payment fails, is declined or is reversed, whatever you were buying is not confirmed. A held seat is released and a slot or package is not issued. If a payment fails after you have already received something, we may cancel it, reverse it, or take the value from your credit balance, and we may stop you buying anything else until it is resolved.
If we find that an amount was charged, credited or paid out in error, we may correct it, by charging or refunding the difference or by adjusting a credit balance or a future payout. We will tell you when we do that and why.
We are not a bank. We provide the platform and move payments between players, hosts, organisers and sellers. We do not provide banking, money transfer, investment or credit services.
14. Lineup credit
Lineup credit is a closed-loop balance you can hold and spend inside the app. It arrives because you topped up, because you bought a credit package from a community, or because a refund was issued to it.
Credit is held per community. Credit you hold with one community can only be spent on that community's games. It cannot be moved to another community, and it cannot be spent on a court slot.
Credit is not money and is not legal tender. It has no value outside the Lineup app.
Credit cannot be exchanged for cash, withdrawn to a bank account, or paid out to you, except in the account-closure case described below.
Credit cannot be sold, transferred or given to another user or account.
Credit does not earn interest and your balance is not a bank deposit or protected as one.
Credit can only be spent on games run by the community it belongs to. It cannot unlock any feature or content of the app. Every feature of Lineup works the same whether or not you hold credit.
Your balance and every movement in it are shown in the app. If you think it is wrong, email admin@lineup.ae and we will check the record.
If your account closes, whether you close it or we do, credit that you paid real money for is refunded to the card you paid with. Credit that we gave you as a bonus, a promotion or goodwill is not refunded, because you did not pay for it. Email admin@lineup.ae if a refund has not reached you within 10 business days of the account closing.
15. Getting paid as a host, organiser or seller
If you host a paid game, sell a package or sell a court slot, the money your players pay is collected by us and passed on to you, less our platform fee and less any refunds, chargebacks or corrections.
Please read the next part precisely, because it is the part people most often assume works differently.
Payouts are made by bank transfer, arranged by a person on our team. They are not automatic and they are not instant. The app itself does not move any money.
Money from a game becomes due for payout 7 days after the game has been played, so that refunds and disputes have time to settle. We then send it in our next weekly payout run.
When your dashboard shows a payout as paid, that is a status our team has set to record that a transfer has been arranged or made. It is not confirmation from a bank. When the funds actually land depends on your bank.
We pay to the bank details you give us, which today means an IBAN and account holder name, or the name on your Ziina account. Ziina is a UAE payment app some of our hosts prefer. Keeping those details accurate is your responsibility, and we are not liable for money sent to details you gave us wrongly.
We may hold a payout while we look into a dispute, a refund claim, a chargeback, suspected fraud or account verification, and we will tell you if we do. We may deduct from a payout anything you owe us or owe a player.
You are responsible for your own tax on anything you earn through Lineup.
16. Refunds and chargebacks
Refunds are handled under section 9 for seats, section 11 for court slots, and section 12 for packages. A refund goes back to your card where possible, and otherwise to the credit balance you paid from.
If you have a problem with a payment, talk to us before you talk to your bank. Email admin@lineup.ae or use the support option in the app. We can almost always sort it out faster than a bank dispute can.
If you raise a chargeback instead, which means asking your bank or card provider to reverse the payment, we may suspend your account while the dispute is open. If it is decided against you, or we find the claim was not genuine, we may recover the disputed amount and any fee the card scheme charges us, including from your credit balance, and we may close your account. A chargeback on money we have already passed on to a host or seller may be recovered from that host or seller.
17. How you must behave
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive users. You must not use Lineup to do any of the following.
Harass, threaten, bully, stalk or abuse anyone.
Post anything pornographic or sexually explicit, or anything that sexualises a child in any way.
Post content that attacks or demeans anyone on grounds including race, religion, nationality, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or age.
Post anything violent or threatening, or that encourages violence or self-harm.
Post anything unlawful under UAE law, anything that offends UAE public morals, or anything promoting illegal activity, drugs, gambling or weapons.
Impersonate someone, or use another person's photo as your own.
Post someone else's private information.
Advertise, spam, or recruit users to other services.
List a court slot you have not booked, sell a place in a game you cannot deliver, or otherwise mislead people to get their money.
Manipulate results, play under someone else's account, or otherwise distort levels.
Take a seat in a women's-only or men's-only game you are not eligible for.
Scrape the app, reverse-engineer it, attack it, probe it for weaknesses, or drive it with automated tools.
Arrange anything illegal, including betting or gambling on games.
There is no warning system for the worst of these. If you post content that sexualises a child, threatens violence, or targets someone with hate, we will remove it and permanently ban your account as soon as we know about it. A banned account is signed out immediately and cannot sign back in.
18. What you post, reporting it, and how fast we act
You can post messages in game chats, community chats and direct messages, choose a display name, and upload a profile photo or community photo. You keep ownership of what you post, and you give us permission to host, display and distribute it inside Lineup so that the app works.
You must accept these Terms before you can post anything on Lineup, which means before you send a chat message, set a display name, or upload a photo. We record which version of these Terms you accepted and when. If we change these Terms in a way that affects what you may post, we will ask you to accept the new version before you post again.
We do not read every message before it is posted. Content posted by users is theirs, not ours, and does not reflect our views.
How to report someone: open the player's profile in the app and choose Report. You can report a no-show, aggressive or abusive behaviour, sandbagging, which means playing below your real standard to keep your level low, dangerous play or cheating, and you can add your own description. You can also email admin@lineup.ae from anywhere, including from a device that no longer has the app installed. Reports are confidential. We do not tell the person you reported that the report came from you.
What we commit to: we review every report within 24 hours of receiving it. Where we find the content is objectionable, we remove it within that same 24 hours and we remove the user who posted it from the platform. A removed user is signed out immediately and cannot sign back in. If we decide the content does not break these Terms, we will tell the person who reported it that we looked and took no action.
Blocking another user: Lineup does not currently have a block feature. If someone is making you uncomfortable, use Report as described above, leave the community or chat, and email admin@lineup.ae. We would rather tell you that plainly than describe a button that is not there. We are building blocking and will update this section when it ships.
Screening: we do not currently screen messages, display names or uploaded photos automatically before they appear. We rely on reports, and we act on them within the 24 hours described above.
Where we think someone is at risk of harm we may pass information to the authorities. We may keep a copy of reported content and of the report after the content has been removed from the app.
19. Suspension, bans, and closing your account
We can remove any content and suspend or permanently ban any account where we reasonably believe someone has broken these Terms, misled or defrauded other users, put someone's safety at risk, or repeatedly failed to turn up to or deliver games. A banned account is signed out immediately and cannot be used again.
Where it is sensible and safe, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond. For safety, fraud or a legal requirement we may act first and explain afterwards. You can challenge any decision by emailing admin@lineup.ae.
You can delete your account yourself at any time, in the app, under Profile. This deletes the account itself, not just the app from your phone. It is permanent and we cannot bring it back. If you have uninstalled the app and cannot get back in, email admin@lineup.ae and we will delete your account for you. Either way, we complete a deletion request within 30 days.
What deletion removes: your profile, your level and reliability in every sport, your match history, your notifications and push tokens, your community and direct messages, your follows, your saved locations and saved game requests, your payout bank details, and your Stripe customer record.
Two things you should know before you delete, because we would rather say them than have you find out afterwards.
Photo files you uploaded are unlinked from your account, but the image files themselves are not yet removed from our storage, and they stay reachable by anyone holding the direct link. We are fixing this. Until we have, email admin@lineup.ae and we will delete them by hand.
Your messages in game chats stay visible to the other players in that game, with the display name you were using at the time. They are disconnected from your account but the text and the name remain readable. The same is true of your name on the roster of games you played and of games you hosted. We are working on removing the name as well as the link.
What deletion does not remove: payment records, which we have to keep for accounting and tax; the record of a ban, which we keep so a banned person cannot simply come back; and games that have already been played, which stay in the other players' history.
What happens to any credit you are still holding is dealt with in section 14, not here.
Whatever the reason your account ends, games you had booked are treated as cancelled and section 9 applies, and anything you already owe another user or us is still owed. If you host games or run a community, please cancel or hand over what you have scheduled before you delete your account, so your players are not left stranded.
We may also stop offering Lineup, or part of it, and we will give reasonable notice if we do.
20. Your data
The full detail is in our Privacy Policy at https://lineup.ae/privacypolicy, which forms part of these Terms. If the two disagree about how we handle your personal data, the Privacy Policy wins. For any privacy question or request, email admin@lineup.ae.
Why we process your data, and on what basis. Almost everything we do with your data we do because it is necessary to perform this agreement with you: to give you an account, run games and communities, take payments, and pay hosts. Where that is not the basis, we tell you. Location is used only with your permission, and you can withdraw that permission at any time in your device settings.
What we collect and why: the name and email address or phone number your sign-in provider gives us, to identify you and to contact you about your games and payments; your profile details including gender, to build your profile and to decide eligibility for women's-only and men's-only games; your photos, to show who you are to the people you play with; your level and match history, to match you to games of the right standard; the chat messages and reports you write, so you can talk to your group and so we can investigate reports; records of what you paid and to whom, to run payments, refunds and payouts and to meet our accounting and tax obligations; your credit balance, so you can spend it; your device push token, to send you notifications about your games; your approximate city or area if you allow location, to show you games near you; and your IP address when you use certain parts of the service, which we store to rate-limit abuse.
Who we share it with. Supabase hosts our database, sign-in and file storage. Stripe processes card payments. Resend sends our emails. Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple's push service deliver notifications. An SMS provider behind Supabase sends one-time passcodes. We have data protection agreements with each of those, under which they are bound to protect your data to the standard we promise here.
Two other services are different, and we would rather be exact about it. Google Maps and OpenStreetMap are public services the app calls to look up venues, and Google Fonts serves the app's typefaces. They receive your IP address, and in the case of venue search your search text, as part of that request. They are governed by their own published terms rather than by an agreement with us.
All of these providers process data on servers outside the UAE, including in the European Union and the United States. We rely on that transfer being necessary to perform our agreement with you.
How we protect your data. Your data is held on encrypted infrastructure and travels over encrypted connections. Access to live data is limited to the small number of people on our team who need it to run the service. Card numbers never reach our systems: they go directly to Stripe. Bank and Ziina payout details are seen only by the person on our team who arranges your payout. Our database rules mean that by default you can only read your own records and the records shared with you by a game, community or chat you belong to. No security is perfect, and we do not promise the app can never be breached.
If something goes wrong. If personal data we hold about you is lost, exposed or accessed without authorisation, and there is a real risk of harm to you, we will tell you what happened, what data was involved, what we have done, and what you should do. We will do that as soon as we reasonably can after we become aware of it, and we will notify the UAE Data Office as the law requires.
What we do not do: we run no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels and no cross-app tracking. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Messages we send you, and how to stop them. We send service messages you cannot switch off entirely while you have an account: a confirmation when you pay, a notice when a game you joined is cancelled, a receipt, a security message. These are part of the service. We will only send you marketing or promotional messages if you have separately agreed to receive them. You are never required to agree in order to use Lineup, and you can withdraw that agreement at any time, in the app or by emailing admin@lineup.ae, and we will stop. We keep a record of when and how you agreed. Push notifications can be turned off for the whole app in your phone's settings, and turned off per community inside the app. Turning them off does not affect your account.
What other users can see: your display name, photo, region, level in each sport, and the games and communities you join. They can never see your email address, phone number, payment details, bank details or credit balance. One thing to know about photos: your profile photo and any community photo you upload are stored at a web address that is not itself password-protected. Anyone inside the app can see them, and anyone who is sent that address can open the image without a Lineup account. Do not upload a photo you would not be comfortable being seen outside the app.
Your rights. You can ask us for a copy of your data; ask for it in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format so you can take it elsewhere; correct anything that is wrong; delete your account and your data; ask us to restrict how we use something while a dispute about it is being resolved; object to how we use something, including objecting to any marketing; withdraw a consent you gave us; and object to a decision made about you by software alone, including your level, and ask for a person to look at it instead. Email admin@lineup.ae and we will reply within one calendar month, free of charge. If a request is unusually complex we may need longer, and we will tell you why before the month is up. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the UAE Data Office.
How long we keep things. Payment records are kept for at least five years, because UAE accounting and tax rules require it. Records of a ban or a serious safety report are kept for as long as we operate Lineup, so a banned person cannot simply come back. Everything else is kept while your account is open and removed when it closes, as described in section 19. We are still putting automatic deletion in place for technical logs such as IP records. If you want yours removed sooner, email admin@lineup.ae and we will do it by hand.
If our business is reorganised, sold or merged, your data may transfer to the new owner, who will be bound to protect it to the standard set out here. We will tell you before that happens.
21. Sport is physical. You play at your own risk.
Please read this section in full. It is the most important one in this document.
Playing sport carries a real risk of injury, including serious injury and death. Football, padel, tennis, cricket, badminton, basketball, volleyball and pickleball all involve fast movement, collisions, hard balls, hard surfaces, and in the UAE, heat and humidity that can be genuinely dangerous.
When you use Lineup to join, host or organise a game, you accept those risks voluntarily and you play at your own risk. In particular, you accept all of the following.
Lineup does not attend, supervise, referee or steward any game.
Lineup does not check the safety of any venue, court, pitch, surface, lighting or equipment.
Lineup does not provide, arrange or require first aid, medical cover or emergency assistance.
Lineup does not run background checks on the people you will be playing with. A level tells you nothing about whether someone is safe to be around.
Lineup does not insure you, and does not insure hosts or organisers.
Before you play, make sure you are medically fit to take part. If you have a health condition, get medical advice first. Stop if you feel unwell. Bring water. Wear proper footwear and use proper equipment.
You are strongly advised to hold your own personal accident and medical insurance.
Lineup also puts you in a car park or on a pitch with people you have never met. Use your judgement. Play at public venues, tell someone where you are going, and report anyone who makes you feel unsafe.
Nothing in this section limits any liability that cannot be limited under UAE law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our own negligence, or for fraud.
22. What we do not promise
We provide Lineup as it is and as it is available. To the fullest extent UAE law allows, we give no warranty beyond what these Terms say. In particular we do not promise that:
the app will be uninterrupted, timely, error-free or secure;
a game will go ahead, will fill up, will be at the standard shown, or will be any fun;
a level accurately reflects anyone's real ability;
a court slot listed by a user is real, transferable, or will be honoured by the venue;
a host, organiser, seller or other user is honest, competent, safe, insured, or will do what they said;
a community or a package will keep existing;
notifications, emails or SMS messages will always arrive, or arrive on time; or
content posted by other users is accurate, lawful or inoffensive.
Lineup depends on services run by other companies, including app stores, payment, messaging, mapping, hosting and network providers. We are not responsible for their outages.
23. Our liability to you
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited under UAE law. Nothing in them removes a right you have under UAE consumer law, and nothing in them stops you taking a complaint to the Ministry of Economy or to Dubai's consumer protection authority.
Subject to that, we are not liable to you for:
injury, illness or damage to property suffered while playing, or travelling to or from a game;
what any other user, host, organiser, seller, buyer or venue does or fails to do;
a game or booking being cancelled, moved, overbooked or not going ahead;
a level being inaccurate, or a decision you took because of a level;
loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity or loss of data; or
any loss that was not a reasonably foreseeable result of our breach.
Where we are liable to you, our total liability for everything connected with your use of Lineup is capped. The cap is whichever of these two amounts is higher: the total you paid us through Lineup in the 12 months before the event that caused the claim, or AED 1,000.
These limits apply however a claim arises, in contract, in tort, or otherwise.
24. Your responsibility to us
If someone brings a claim against us because of something you did, you agree to cover us for our losses, costs and reasonable legal fees arising from:
your breach of these Terms;
a game you hosted or a community you ran, including a game that did not happen as advertised;
a court slot you listed that was not real, not yours, or not transferable;
content you posted, including chat messages and photos;
injury or damage you caused to another person or to a venue; or
your breach of any law.
We will tell you about any such claim and give you a fair opportunity to be involved in how it is handled, and we will not settle in a way that creates an obligation for you without asking you first.
25. Who owns what
The Lineup app, the website, the name, the logo, the design, the level and reliability system, and everything else we made are owned by Techauthors FZ LLC and are protected by intellectual property law. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for its intended purpose. You may not copy it, sell it, rent it out, reverse-engineer it, or extract its source code, except where the law says you may.
You keep ownership of the content you post, including your photos and your messages. By posting it you give us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, reproduce and distribute it inside Lineup, for as long as we need to in order to run the service, including showing it to the other people in your game or community. That licence exists so the app can function. It does not let us sell your content or use it in advertising.
If you think something on Lineup infringes your intellectual property, email admin@lineup.ae with the details and we will look into it and remove it where the claim is made out.
26. If you got the app from the Apple App Store
This section applies on top of everything above if you downloaded Lineup from the App Store. Where it conflicts with Apple's standard licence terms for applications, Apple's terms apply to the extent of the conflict.
Apple is not a party. These Terms are between you and Techauthors FZ LLC only. Apple Inc. is not a party to them, and Techauthors FZ LLC, not Apple, is solely responsible for the Lineup app and its content.
Your licence. We give you a non-transferable licence to use Lineup on any Apple-branded product that you own or control, subject to the usage rules in Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions. The app may also be accessed by other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing or volume purchasing where Apple offers that.
Maintenance and support. Techauthors FZ LLC is solely responsible for any maintenance and support for the app. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance and support services. Reach us at Techauthors FZ LLC, In5 Tech, Dubai Internet City, P.O. Box 73000, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, admin@lineup.ae, +971 58 512 9190.
Warranty. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple gives no warranty for the Lineup app. If the app fails to conform to any warranty that does apply, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app to you. Apple has no other warranty obligation of any kind, and we bear any remaining liability. Lineup is free to download, so any such refund would be of the download price, which is nothing. Anything you buy inside Lineup is refunded by us under sections 9, 11, 12 and 16, not by Apple.
Product claims. Techauthors FZ LLC, not Apple, is responsible for handling any claim about the app or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection or privacy law.
Intellectual property claims. If a third party claims the app infringes their intellectual property rights, Techauthors FZ LLC, not Apple, is solely responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
Legal compliance. By using the app you confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated by the US Government as a terrorist supporting country, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Third party terms. You must comply with any applicable third party terms when using the app, for example your mobile carrier's terms.
Apple can enforce this section. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third party beneficiaries of this section 26, and on your acceptance of these Terms Apple has the right to enforce it against you directly.
Payments do not go through Apple. What you buy through Lineup is a place at a real sports session at a real venue, a court slot another user has booked, or credit that can only be spent on such sessions. These are physical services consumed outside the app, so under Apple's rules they must be paid for by a method other than in-app purchase. They are paid for by card through Stripe. Apple does not process these payments and does not handle refunds for them, so please come to us at admin@lineup.ae. Lineup credit can only be spent on those same real-world sessions and cannot unlock any feature or content of the app.
User content, deletion and sign-in. Sections 17, 18 and 19 apply in full on iOS, including zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users, in-app reporting, action within 24 hours, ejection of offending users, and in-app account deletion. Sign in with Apple is offered alongside Google and phone one-time passcode, and it is the option that shares the least with us.
27. If you got the app from Google Play
This section applies on top of everything above if you downloaded Lineup from Google Play.
Google is not the seller. Techauthors FZ LLC, not Google, is responsible for the app and for everything sold through it.
Payments do not go through Google Play billing. As explained in section 26, what you buy is a physical service consumed in the real world, which Google's payments policy does not require to be billed through Play. Payment is by card through Stripe. Google is not a party to these transactions and does not handle refunds for them. Refund requests come to us at admin@lineup.ae or through in-app support.
Account deletion. You can delete your account in the app under Profile. If you have uninstalled the app, email admin@lineup.ae and we will delete your account and the data listed in section 19 within 30 days.
Data safety. What we collect, why, and who we share it with is set out in section 20 and in our Privacy Policy, and it matches the Data Safety information on our Play listing. If we change what we collect, all three are updated at the same time.
Permissions. We ask for location and notifications only for the purposes described in section 20, and the app keeps working if you refuse either. Location is used only to work out your city or area so we can show you nearby games, and we do not track you in the background. We do not ask for access to your photo library. When you add a photo you pick a single file through your device's own picker, and only that file reaches us.
User content. Sections 17, 18 and 19 apply in full on Android, including reporting and removal of content and users.
28. Changes to Lineup and to these Terms
Lineup is an active product and we change it. We may add, change or remove features, sports, fees, communities and marketplace functions.
We may also change these Terms, for example when we add a feature, when a store or payment rule changes, or when the law changes. The current version, with its date at the top, is published at https://lineup.ae/terms.
If a change materially affects your rights we will give you reasonable notice in the app, or by email or SMS, before it takes effect. If you keep using Lineup after that, you accept the new Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using Lineup and delete your account.
We will not apply a change backwards to a game, package or slot you have already paid for.
29. Governing law, complaints and disputes
These Terms, and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of Lineup, are governed by the federal law of the United Arab Emirates as applied in the Emirate of Dubai. Disputes are to be decided by the onshore courts of the Emirate of Dubai, being the Dubai Court of First Instance and the courts above it, and not by the DIFC Courts.
How we handle a complaint. Email admin@lineup.ae or use the support option in the app. We will acknowledge it within 2 business days and give you a decision within 10 business days. If we need longer because we are waiting on a bank, a venue or another user, we will tell you and give you a new date. If we decide against you, we will tell you why, and you can ask us to look again.
Before starting any legal proceedings, please contact us so we can try to sort it out directly. Almost everything gets resolved faster this way: a game that did not happen, a refund, a slot that was not honoured.
Nothing here removes your right to complain to a UAE consumer protection authority, or any right you have under the consumer law of the country you live in.
30. General
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about Lineup, and they replace any earlier version of these Terms.
If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up.
You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms. We may transfer ours, for example if the business is reorganised or sold, and we will tell you if that happens.
Nobody other than you and us can enforce these Terms, except Apple in relation to section 26.
These Terms are written in English. Where we publish an Arabic version, the Arabic version applies for users in the United Arab Emirates.
